Most confusion on shower-toilet shopping is not about brands. It is about what is included in the box. On Washlets Direct we label products in plain language so you can build a complete install without surprise gaps.
The three building blocks
1. Seat + pan set
A set is the shower toilet and its matching pan.
That is the ceramic (and seat) pairing the manufacturer designed to work together — for example a TOTO WASHLET with its matching wall-hung pan, or a Geberit AquaClean / Villeroy ViClean seat with the correct ceramic.
Choose a set when:
- You already have a compatible frame and flush plate, or
- Your installer will specify the frame separately, or
- You are replacing ceramics on an existing concealed cistern that has been checked for compatibility.
Browse examples: TOTO pan + seat sets, Geberit AquaClean seat + pan, Villeroy & Boch seat + pan.
2. Complete kit
A kit is the set plus the supporting hardware for a typical wall-hung install: frame, flush plate, and — where the model needs it — the auto-flush motor, plus connecting parts where we include them for that kit.
Choose a kit when:
- You want one shopping path for a full install package, or
- You are less sure which frame and plate belong with which seat, or
- You want pricing that reflects a ready-to-specify system, not a seat on its own.
Our homepage highlights full TOTO kits (frame, connection set and push plate included) for that reason. Always read the kit contents on the product page — auto-flush versions differ from manual ones.
3. Frames and cisterns on their own
WC frames and cisterns are for when the seat and pan are decided (or already owned) and you need the wall structure: TOTO frames prepared for WASHLET water supply, Geberit Duofix-style systems, Villeroy ViConnect, matching plates, and related cisterns.
Buy frames separately when:
- You already bought a set, or
- The project is frame-first (first fix) and ceramics come later, or
- You need a spare plate or a specific cistern variant (for example auto-flush).
A simple decision path
- Wall-hung or close-coupled? Most premium shower toilets here are wall-hung and need a concealed frame.
- Do you want auto-flush? That often changes motor, plate and sometimes cistern choice.
- Do you already have a frame? If yes, start with a set. If no, prefer a kit or set + matching frame line.
- Same brand family. Match seat, pan and frame guidance from the same system. Mixing brands “because the plate looks nicer” is a common way to create install delays.
What “matching” really means
Shower-toilet pans are not generic. Spray geometry, fixings, water connections and design lines are paired. We sell matching pans with seats so the finished WC looks and works as the manufacturer intended.
If a product title says “pan + seat set”, you are getting that coordinated pair. If it says “complete installation kit”, you are getting the pair plus the listed install hardware.
Price: why kits look expensive (and sets look incomplete)
A kit price bundles ceramics and first-fix hardware. A set price looks lower because the frame and plate are not in the cart yet. Neither is a trick — they are different scopes of supply.
When you compare quotes, line up:
- Seat / integrated unit
- Matching pan
- Frame / cistern
- Flush plate
- Auto-flush parts if required
- Electrical work (usually site labour, not in the product price)
Practical tip for renovations
Agree the package type with your installer before tiling:
- First fix: frame position, water feed for the WASHLET, power location.
- Second fix: pan, seat, plate, commissioning.
Ordering a kit early reduces “we’ll sort the frame later” mistakes. Ordering a set makes sense when the frame is already fixed and verified.
Where to click next
- Full systems: start from the homepage kit grids or your preferred brand department.
- Ceramics only: TOTO / Geberit / Villeroy seat + pan categories.
- Hardware only: WC Frames.
